My Pulse, Posterous & PulseMeme - a quick primer

I'm thrilled to announce our brand new partnership with Posterous.

Quick story: When I first went to the Posterous a few months ago, I was struck by their tagline - "the dead simple way to post everything". Having blogged before, I knew it was always a pain.

I fell for the clean layout of their site, and started my first Posterous blog. I was heading to Nairobi, Kenya and thought I'd start blogging about my trip. The whole experience actually was dead simple. I emailed them my stories, and they quickly laid them out for me. My professors, family, friends, everyone could just follow my trip - fast, easy and efficient. It was so good, we decided to use it for this very company blog.

Okay, so what's this new feature - "My Pulse"?

All iPad Pulse users (iPhone/iPod and Android soon) can now "pulse" articles. And they can do this by a single tap on the "heart" icon. What this does is that it adds that article to your "own pulse", that people can follow!

When we tested this feature with a bunch of users, we were amazed how people were using this feature. Christina "pulsed" several articles in the morning so that she can read all of them in the train. Mark "pulsed" it to share his interesting reads with friends. Henry searched for his friends in the search bar, and voila! he was now following what other people are "pulsing".

Okay, so what's up with Posterous?

Every Pulse user who signs up for "My Pulse" gets a posterous-powered blog, which aggregates all his "pulses". So when you sign up for "My Pulse", you also get a username.pulsememe.com blog (for example, check out our user Tommaso's pulse), that you can share with your Pulse as well as Non-Pulse friends! Hooray!

Throughout the whole process, we've kept the process "dead simple", just like Posterous. All we need is your name, preferred username and your email address. No passwords? Yes, no passwords. Your pulse is uniquely associated with your iPad.

Finally, what's PulseMeme?

Similar to one of our favorite websites, Techmeme, Pulsememe is a place to see what people are "pulsing". Currently, you can see the top 10 stories, as well as the top 10 editors. More features will be added very soon. Stay tuned on this.

Alright, enough from my side. Really curious to see how you're liking this new feature. Please drop us a line, either below or on the forum. Love it, hate it - we'd love to hear both sides.
